Oh Revlon I completely underrate you yet you manage to surprise me time and again with little genius creations such as your latest ‘Colour Burst Lip Butters’.
Don’t be fooled by the term ‘butter’ because in my eyes it is not ‘butter’ in its conventional sense or a lipstick as the packaging suggests. To me lip butters come in little pots with slightly greasy/creamy consistency (like the Korres ones I reviewed earlier here) which you scoop out with your fingertips providing a light-weight moisturised finish on your lips with sheer coverage. Revlon lip butter is not that. Its just better!
The packaging is perfect in that the translucent colour matched cap with metal tube housing the slanted lip butter bullet is so easy to find if like me you are a lipstick hoarder and do not stock your make-up in any order.
The texture is rich, smooth and creamy but not buttery which don’t get me wrong is not a bad thing. It still offers the hydrating feel one expects from lip butters without the added greasiness. The pigmentation is fantastic with one coat offering a sheer finish which can be builded upon to a smooth opaque with 2-3 coats. The lip butter does not feel heavy on the lips and lasted a good part of 3hrs fading down to a light healthy looking stain.
Candy Apple was my favourite pick after having tried all the others as the shade was a warm wearable day time red. I don’t normally go for bold colours as I am a nude shade addict but Candy Apple gave the flexibility of being worn both nude with sheer application to a stronger bright red with a few coats.
I love it and cannot recommend it enough!
- Excellent pigmentation
- Glides on smoothly without settling in to lip lines
- Lovely non-sticky texture
- Good VFM (Value for Money)
- Elegant Packaging
- Could last longer
Overall Rating: 4.5/5
